Production Blog: Last Minute Filming

Unfortunately, I couldn't make it to the park we originally filmed at because it was too far away and no one would be willing to stay there with me at night. So I ended up filming at home and hoping the inconsistency wouldn't be noticed. I also needed to be with my mom because I only have my permit and not my actual drivers license. There were few scenes I was going to shoot but was unsure if I even needed or would even use them. I filmed late at night when there were no cars and when it was dark enough to match the films original lighting.

The problem with filming at home was that not only was I in a city area, but the lighting from streetlamps shifted the feel and vibe of the film. Personally I noticed the inconsistency when I compared footage to when we filmed in the park. Since I didn't have any team members, I had my mom film the scenes in the car. This ended up with me having to be even more specific with my instructions because she hadn't seen the film up to this point. Luckily my experience with working with my team on my past film day had given me some practice in explaining my vision.

Once my mother got the eventual idea of what I hoped to film I began recording the scenes in order of easiest to hardest. My first scene was pulling out of the front of my house. This scene was meant to signify me running away from the murderer, but I had to purely rely on the context of the film to ensure that the suddenly different environment made sense. Once I had enough footage of me exiting of my drive way and eventually driving away, me and my mom eventually decided that was enough filming for tonight. I still wanted to get ahead because I knew I still didn't have enough footage.

Now I since I'm not usually one to physically write out my planning, I made mental notes on what I was going to do on my next possible day of filming. First I wanted to have a scene of me "speeding" away. I had figured that a simple drive around my block would work because of the two main streets that surrounded it. The question was how would I "speed" away. I saved that for later me when it came to editing.
