Production Blog: Finishing the filming

I finally had time to finish the footage I was missing. Let me get into more detail.

It had finally became night and my mom was waiting for my brother to finishing doing his school work. However I took this as an opportunity to finish filming. I asked her if we could finish filming the scenes I still needed and she agreed to it.

There were mainly two scenes I needed. They were of me driving and then taking a turn on the two main streets that intersected by my house. However I wanted two shots but at different angles. I wanted one to be from the back sort of like and over the shoulder. And I wanted the other to be of my side. Both needed to be at eye-level though because I wanted to show off the actual road.

At first I did a practice run without filming to see how fast I could comfortably go without causing issues. Going exactly the speed limit was perfect. I could later speed up the footage in post production. This would allow me to get the adrenaline/worried pace that I wanted. Once I felt comfortable with the route, I prepared my mom to film and did two runs I needed.

I started with the first scene I mentioned. I took about two-three takes. My reason for this specific number was because I wanted a scene with fewest amount of cars too make it seem like our MC was desolate with no help in sight. I then did the second scene with even more ease. I did about the same number of takes because of the occasional car. I wrapped up the film session by checking all the footage so that I was sure I had the takes I wanted.
