Production Blog: Film day

On our first day of filming, problems almost immediately popped up. When we all were going up to the park we decided on, we ended up all arriving all at different times. I made it to the park first and was there for about an hour to two earlier than anyone else. This allowed me to scout out the park as I have never been there before and as well my teammates that have also didn't remember too much about the park. As I scouted I looked for locations around the park that worked best for our film. Really only I was able to do this because we had to scrap our original storyboard, and only I ended up creating a new one. I functioned as a writer and story writer. As well, I was doing the work as a director by giving directions on where the cameras and actors should go. And not due to my choice, I was the actor for the main character. This all allowed me to be the perfect scout so luckily the time difference in arrival didn't end up being a huge problem. As I scouted out for locations I was also communicating with my group and what they were bringing.

Once I completely traveled the entirety of the trail that the park offered I had mentally marked out the spots we needed and my teammates had just arrived. I led them throughout the parks, showing them what spots I had in mind as we were waiting when there were less people and also for when it got darker. Wolf lake park was huge and had a huge lake in the middle so my initial shot was too record a downward pan. In the beginning one of my team members had brought in a tool to keep the camera level and steady. However we spent so much time fidgeting it with it that it had almost already turned pitch black. So we ended up recording with our hands instead because we figured it'd be easier. However the team members family began to call us. This was because we had been out for too long and it was getting too dark. In my opinion, we hadn't been long enough out there. And we didn't even have enough footage. So we had to rush our recording.
