Production Blog - The Mall
The next day of filming was actually planned. It was to take place at Aventura Mall practically the next day. Now the only real issue was people getting rides to the mall, as for example Andrea lived the furthest and was struggling to find a ride there. I on the other hand couldn't find a ride from my parents so I took a bus ride that took an hour and a half due to heavy traffic. So my solution was to take the bus as early as possible. This was because I wanted to have as much time to film as possible, but also because I needed to purchase birthday gifts at the mall, so I didn't want to slow down the filming process. I had arrived two hours early and had scouted all the possible filming areas ahead of time, as I was the main cameraman. I was also directed on the spot because we couldn't follow our storyboard due to complications of time and unavailability in the future between all of us. As said in the last blog, we also needed to require all our shoots to be in the area of the girl who was chosen to be the main focus of the film.
Once everyone arrived late, as we had planned to arrive at 5:30 but everyone arrived an hour late, we began to plan. I did most of my thinking beforehand, but we couldn't film yet as everyone wanted to eat before. And one of our extras had to leave early as they assumed everyone else would arrive earlier. We started recording shopping and entering stores, etc. We then recorded ourselves entering the movies and almost got in trouble for faking the purchase of tickets. Once the majority of scenes, which is going to be the second main scene of the video, were filmed we moved onto figuring out transitions and where we should add them.
Once it had gotten dark we had to move swiftly. This was due to everyone arriving late already and not shooting efficiently. We recorded all our transitions and then went to the food court to discuss the clips we had. Some of the footage had ended up looking low quality, but luckily I had planned ahead and had taken multiple takes. As the night came to a close everyone was leaving. Luckily, as my final shot of the day, i had decided to film a shot of two of them saying goodbye as closing to the scene late in the video.
