Group Blog - Who, what?
Hello, thank you for reading my group blog! First of all, I chose to work with a pre-existing group. Now the reason I chose to work in this pre-existing group was because a friend I know named Issac offered to me if I wanted to work in his existing group. At first, I was hesitant because I didn't want to deal with different work schedules or have to discuss with a group to make final decisions or argue with certain creative choices. But after a while of thought, I decided to say yes. Now the reason was that working in a group might be able to allow me more time in my personal life to deal with all my classes without stressing myself out. I didn't want a repeat of last time when I was struggling to work on my project due to me not being able to work.
After saying yes I had to go do something in school separate to the project. When I came back to class I attempted to quickly catch up. I was told that the group wanted to do rock but I immediately disagreed. They wanted to do a song they liked/preferred, but I believed there were some strong cons to it.
One of them was that the rock genre tends to have "complicated" videos or use certain colors and atmospheres. Those colors and atmospheres would be more frustrating to do than necessary. Also, the videography of making a rock music video would be hard to perfect because of Dutch angles and other unusual methods. My other point against doing rock was that the props/outfits can be "quirky" or at least hard to make. Now on the other hand I was still willing to hear their reasoning out.
Their reasoning consisted of wanting to do a genre they wanted along with a song they liked. Now I can understand why they would want to do that but this wasn't a passion project for me. This idea led to me wanting ease over what I liked. Now since I was the only one who wanted to do something with an easy story to follow and not too hard to record, their wants out-voted mine. Two songs they suggested was Doctor Worm by the They Might Be Giants and We Will Rock You by Queen. I decided to pick Doctor Worm as it had an actual kind of story in the lyrics and seemed doable.
